What is Floating?
If an object is floating, it stays about the surface of a liquid and does not fall beneath the surface of it. Rarely the object will float in the middle of the liquid and come back up to the surface and will not decrease or increase into the bottom of the surface. This is explained by the weight or size of the object.
What is Sinking?
If an object is sinking, it is decreasing slowly or rapidly through the surface of a liquid until it hits the bottom of something (like the bottom of a cup or fish bowl) or the displacement of the object to the liquid are equal.
